Give Back Through Phone Recycling
Phone Medics Accepts Cell Phones for Donation and Recycling.
At Phone Medics, we believe that we have a responsibility to do everything we can to help our community and our environment. With that in mind, we’ve partnered with some local organizations to help you put your old cell phones, tablets, and laptops to good use. We accept used electronics for both donation and recycling. When you bring us your devices, our team will evaluate them and designate them for either donation or recycling.
Functioning phones and recent-model laptops will be donated to Family Promise of Brevard, which helps families in our community who are dealing with the challenges of homelessness. Your used cell phone or laptop can help provide families a lifeline to vital resources that can help them escape homelessness. With your used phone or PC, a family in need can search for jobs, search for housing, stay connected to their social support network, and have access to numerous other resources.
Bringing your old phone, tablet, or computer to us for recycling has multiple benefits. An estimated 140 million cell phones go into landfills every year. Each phone contains numerous materials – plastic, glass, wiring, and even precious metals – that could be reused or recycled. Each phone also contains chemicals that can be environmentally harmful when the phone ends up in a landfill. When you bring us your phone, tablet, or computer for recycling, we check it for components that can be reused or repurposed in our facility and sell the rest to a local recycling firm. All the money we receive from the sale of this material are then donated to the Brevard Humane Society. When you bring us your device you aren’t just getting all of the environmental and economic benefits of recycling, you’re also helping care for homeless animals in our community.
So if you’ve got older phones, tablets, or computers sitting around your house collecting dust and taking up space, do yourself and your community a favor and bring them to us.
Family Promise of Brevard was established in Palm Bay in 2007 as one of 211 affiliates of Family Promise, a nationwide non-profit organization dedicated to helping families facing homelessness. They take a multi-faceted, holistic approach to helping families in need. Through their Interfaith Hospitality Network they partner with over 27 local congregations to provide temporary shelter for homeless families. Through their Keeping the Promise Program they work with families who have found housing in order to empower them to stay housed. Most recently, their Hand Up program works with families in order to prevent homelessness before it happens.
The Brevard Humane Society is the oldest animal welfare organization in Brevard County. It was founded in 1952 to promote humane treatment of animals and to care for the homeless animals of Brevard County. They seek to create a “no kill community” by offering programs that promote care for animals, the adoption of homeless animals, and raising community awareness on the importance of spaying and neutering pets. Brevard Humane Society is more than just an animal shelter. They also offer a low-cost spay/neuter and animal wellness clinic, the Heavenly Paws Chapel to help you deal with the loss of a beloved pet, and four Molly Mutt Thrift Shops, where you can purchase a wide variety of items for a low cost, with all proceeds going to help the Humane Society.
